Sustain, a London charity promoting sustainable local food, through it's Capital Growth project is finding 2012 local food growing spaces in the Capital in time for the London Olympics in 2012.
They have asked Bees Action Network to run its Daisy Chain Campaign - planting bee-loving wildflowers and organic cottage garden plants in these food growing spaces, to attract bees and other pollinators to pollinate the fruit and veg - and to provide bees with a bee banquet!.
Bees Action Network are honoured on behalf of the bees to accept the invitation to provide bee banquets in London! This will be our Main Campaign for the years 2010/11 and 2011/12.
Bees Action Network believes that bees are suffering from chemical overload - so all seeds supplied by them will be organic or biodynamic or untreated wildflower seed.
They are being helped in this with the supply of biodynamic and organic seed by:
Stormy Hall - Biodynamic Association - www.biodynamic.org.uk
Tamar Organics - www.tamarorganics.co.uk
and Chase Organics - www.OrganicCatalogue.com
BAN are also being supported by:
Rocket Gardens - www.rocketgardens.co.uk - for organic veg & herb plugs
Ark Wildlife- www.arkwildlife.co.uk - for bee boxes and other wildlife boxes
Organipets - www.organipets.co.uk - for sustainable healthy organic food for dogs and cats
Please note: Due to limited organic/biodynamic seed supply, allocations of free seed will depend on the following conditions:
- Priority will be given to supplying free seeds to our Main Campaign - for the next two years this will be Capital Growth's food growing spaces in London
- Only one application for free seed per food growing space
- Only community food growing spaces/allotments can apply for free seed
- Bees Action Network reserves the right to decide on variety of seed and amount of free seed supplied (due to limited seed supply)
- If insufficient seed is available at any time we will put applications on a reserve list from which we will supply seed whenever it becomes available.
- Seed will begin to be sent out in Autumn of this year for Capital Growth food growing spaces
